About Hot Mess Express Tampa
WOMEN HELPING WOMEN
Hot Mess Express is a community of women who are here to rescue each other when we can’t seem to dig ourselves out of our ‘funk.’ We all need a little help sometimes, and through nominations, we dispatch ourselves to the houses of women in need. While there, we help with folding laundry, dishes, vacuuming, organizing, etc., whatever seems overwhelming.
Whether these women are dealing with postpartum depression, medical problems, social issues, or life burdens, Hot Mess Express is here to alleviate as much stress as possible.
The flagship affiliate in North Carolina was founded in 2021. Our Tampa Affiliate was formed in 2023 by Christy Hartsell Lott and has since grown exponentially, with over 1400+ members. This is a volunteer-based group, no one is paid or pays for services. Time and resources dedicated to rescue missions are provided by our amazing volunteer community.

Cristy Hartsell Lott

Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Cristy has called Palmyra, Tennessee home for seven years and is now loving living in her forever state of Florida. She’s currently a stay-a-home wife, mother and grandmother. Previously worked in Law Enforcement, Special Education and Addiction Counseling, Cristy believes that everyone can use a little boost sometimes and she is ready to lead the way – with a love of family community, and passion for helping others. In her spare time, Cristy enjoys raising her small farm of animals – especially her rescue horse, Country. She also enjoys gardening, traveling, adventuring and crafting. Cristy spends her days chasing after her grandson Jaxson and getting baby snuggles from Zen – and has a great love for all her children and grandchildren. Cristy’s biggest passion is paying it forward by supporting women in our community. Let’s make a positive impact together. Originally from Central Illinois, Heather has called Tampa home since 2007. She’s currently a stay-at-home momma, previously serving the geriatric population as a home health speech-language pathologist. Heather believes that no matter how big or small the good deed – our light always shines on others. With a commitment to creating community, her passion is serving women and mothers – the backbone of our communities. In her spare time, Heather enjoys traveling and adventuring, facilitating women’s circles, is an avid DIY-er, and is now more smitten than ever after welcoming her first child in 2023. She spends her days with family and dreaming up new ideas to create community through events.

FAQs
Can someone under 18 volunteer?
While we love inspiring the younger generation, it’s a liability issue. Beyond getting hurt, we are deep in these families’ personal spaces, and sometimes we encounter things that are not kid-friendly. Also, If a woman is asking for help and she sees a minor showing up to do what she can’t, that can be a serious kick in the shins for someone already struggling.
Are you a 501(c)3 organization?
Currently, only the founding North Carolina Triad Chapter is recognized with a 501(c)3 status. It is in the works to extend that status to nationwide chapters, including the Tampa Chapter. We will provide an update in the future once that is complete. With that said, we are a non-profit organization with 100% of donations going directly towards rescue missions.
